Je’Vari is a doctoral student in Clinical Psychology at the JFK School of Psychology at National University, where he is pursuing advanced training with a focus on neuropsychology and forensic psychology. He earned his Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Notre Dame de Namur University, with concentrations in Marriage and Family Therapy and Professional Clinical Counseling. He earned his undergraduate degree in Sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he also played collegiate football. Following UCLA, Je’Vari continued his athletic career as a professional indoor football player.
His clinical experience includes providing individual and group-based mental health services to adolescents and adults across school-based, community, outpatient, and acute inpatient psychiatric settings. He has worked with individuals experiencing a broad range of mental health concerns, including psychotic disorders, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, anxiety, trauma, grief, behavioral concerns, and co-occurring conditions. His clinical training has included crisis intervention, safety assessment, de-escalation, treatment planning, psychoeducation, and supporting individuals and families during periods of significant emotional and psychiatric distress.
Je’Vari’s clinical approach is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, strengths-based, and relationship-centered. He believes that effective therapy begins with creating an environment in which clients feel respected, heard, and understood. He works collaboratively with clients to identify strengths, develop practical coping strategies, navigate challenges, and build toward greater stability and meaningful change.
His experience working within multidisciplinary settings has also given him an appreciation for the importance of collaboration and continuity of care. He has worked alongside families, educators, psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and other mental health professionals to support clients across different levels of care.
Je’Vari’s developing professional interests include psychological assessment, neuropsychology, trauma, grief and loss, severe mental illness, forensic psychology, sports psychology, and the intersection of culture, lived experience, and mental health. His background as an athlete also gives him a distinctive perspective on motivation, identity, performance, pressure, resilience, and the psychological demands that can accompany competition and high achievement.
Je’Vari is committed to helping clients feel seen, respected, supported, and empowered. Whether working through life transitions, emotional challenges, relationship or family concerns, trauma, grief, or other mental health difficulties, he strives to build a genuine therapeutic relationship that allows clients to move toward greater self-understanding, resilience, and meaningful change.
Rooted in Oakland, Je’Vari remains committed to his community and faith. In his free time, he enjoys exercise, the outdoors, travel, and time with friends and family.
